Lingering Echoes is a Young Adult contemporary romance perfect for fans of Lauren Oliver's Before I Fall and Colleen Hoover’s Hopeless.
Allie ignored all of the warning signs. She should have known better, but this was the first time she was able to feel like herself after that horrifying day last Summer.
The first sign A way-too-sexy for his own good stranger named Damien rides into her life on a dirt bike.
The second sign That same stranger happens to know a little too much about her.
The third sign She knows nothing about him; and for some reason the "sensible Allie" she's always been doesn't mind that fact... Until it's too late.
Falling fast, Allie finds herself in a dangerous situation when her smoldering Summer romance comes to a halt after she finds out the dark secrets from Damien's past. A past that has come back to haunt them both.

This book was just okay for me. I have had a review copy of this book for over 4 years but never felt compelled to actually read the book until now. I must say that I am happy to finally be able to mark this book off of my list of books to read. I found this to be a pretty quick read that held my attention but it was never the kind of book that totally grabbed me.My feelings are pretty mixed about this book. I think one of the main things that I didn't care for in this book was the fact that it was another teen romance featuring a love triangle. I am not usually a fan of love triangles. In the case of this book, Allie has two boys falling for her. Aaron is always there to support her and gets her through a lot of tough times. Damien is the dangerous older guy that drives a motorcycle and has a few stalkerish behaviors. Guess who she picks?
I think that Allie's behavior was another major hurdle for me to overcome with this book. I am the mother of a teenager and not a teen so I do realize that I am probably not the target audience for this story but Allie was too much at times. She kept telling everyone that she was going off to college soon so she could make her own choices. Of course her father was telling her what she needed to do because on her own she wasn't doing too great.
I had a few other issues with the story. I thought that Damien's past was way to easy to figure out. We do eventually get more details but even then I thought everything seemed a little too perfect. Allie has a moment towards the end of the book where she suddenly remembers something that she had forgotten for the past year and it just felt really odd. I also could not believe that Allie's father and step-mother never addressed her step-brother's behavior towards her. He was terrible to Allie and then suddenly they started getting along.
There were some things that I did like about the story. Allie had a lot of grief and guilt to deal with from an event in the past. It has obviously had a great impact on her life and I did like seeing her work through those emotions. Allie and Aaron's friendship was a high point of the book. Aaron was probably my favorite character in the story and I liked his connection with Allie. While the big action scene at the end of the book seemed far-fetched, I still found it to be rather exciting.
I do think that a lot of readers will like this one a lot more than I did. I was entertained by the story even when I was questioning a character's behavior. I am glad that I read this book even though I feel like it was a pretty forgettable read.

Lingering Echoes edition by Erica Kiefer Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
I really liked this book. It is a book that pulls you in and surrounds you with mystery, even t hough it isn't a mystery at all.
Allie was a sad, broken girl who had every reason to be a sad broken girl. Her history is told to you over the course of a few chapters, with some build up to what actually happened. It starts with a fear of water and anxiety and builds to a past story of two girls and a river. I liked the way this was done because you got parts of the present with flashbacks to the past.
Ms Kiefer continues this trend with her hero. However, I'll leave that one alone because, well you need to read the book. That said, this book is built on secrets and town gossip that builds reputations. You don't know the full story until the end when the Hero shares it with you and Damien is part wounded boy and part amazing hero.
I really enjoyed the love story, the friends, and the family. This book was well put together and I can't wait to read more.
So far this has been a fine read. I would recommend this for either right- before- bed, or on the beach, a quiet afternoon, etc. There are quite a few dynamic features to the story line. A few twists and tunes, and the characters are pretty well developed. There are a few parts that could be edited slightly better, but I do know most authors on here prefer for their readers to help them out in this aspect.
It was not hard reading by any means, but it was also not an elementary level book. Be prepared for some love scenes. But honestly, sometimes they do add to the storyline, right?
I hope to either purchase more in this series (if there is one) or get the author motivated to write more! Not that this was left with just a cliffhanger or anything, I have just loved how the storyline was developed, and would love to know where this could head into the future. Knowing how the characters have developed, interacted, and have grown leaves me with a lot of hope for more. I always love series/ books where there is a spin- off into a similar setting, but with acquaintances that the characters had, or will have.
Overall, this is a great value and I would highly recommend it. It is a great value for the price, and it simply cannot be beat! I will be purchasing more from this author in the future, and look forward to new releases.
